This party, sponsored by the Houston Art Car Klub (HACK), is the annual celebration to welcome out of town artists to Houston. It is a "low key" event to bring artists together to get to know each other better. This is why no media is allowed. | |

Parade participants meet at The Children's Museum then divide up into convoys to travel throughout Houston. These convoys make pit stops at hospitals, schools, community centers and various assisted living centers - in essence to bring the parade to those who may not be able to see it any other way. | |

Artists, scholars and "assorted cultural icons" get together each year at the Art Car Symposium to share ideas about the art car phenomenon. This year, the symposium features Roger Cormon, "King of the B Movies" leading the discussion "The Car is the Star." Seating is very limited, reservations are a must. | |
Saturday, April 27 | ||

Parade participants begin lining up for the parade on Saturday morning along Allen Parkway around 9:00 am. At 11:30 am, the parade starts to roll through downtown Houston. The best viewing area is generally right at the beginning along Allen Parkway where the crowds are manageable and you don't have to pay to get into the Houston International Festival grounds. | |
Art Car Celebration 1:30 pm to 7 pm Eleanor Tinsley Park Allen Parkway |
The Art Car Celebration is a new event this year, a "redesigned Art Car Ball," that happens right after the parade! It is an old fashioned outdoor picnic like no other featuring live music, good food and lots of good times in a crazy carnival atmosphere. You can even see which car will take the top prize of $1500 at the Awards Ceremony from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm. | |
