Once upon a time,
some friends hatched a scheme
to create a cool art car
With a fishy sort of theme.
Better it be a mammal, they thought
For they all knew it so,
That mammals have bigger brains
To help them as they grow.

|
As the scultptor lit his torch,
He shaped the metal thin.
And fashioned a beetle car,
Into a dolphin.
They called him Dusty Dave,
They painted him blue and bright,
They made his tail swish about,
Every day and into the night.
They made Dave extra-special,
And taught him how to care,
They gave him a giant heart,
For all the world to share.
Dave's mission in life,
As he drives from place to place,
Is to spread happiness and joy,
And put a smile on your face.
So if you see him in your town,
You'll spot him by his grin,
Shout and wave and say hello,
To Dusty Dave the Dolphin.

"Dusty Dave the Dolphin" was conceived and characterized by Penny Smith and Harry Leverette. They commissioned Tom Kennedy as the sculptor who created the art work. Shelley Buschur and Penny Smith assisted. Gordon Gunn is Dusty Dave's designated driver. Dusty Dave is now the official mascot for the Texas Surfrider Foundation. |
