A Whole New Art Car Parade in 2003 |           | |
Newly independent from a long partnership with The Houston International Festival, this year's event will roll on its own power as The Orange Show Foundation presents the 2003 Pennzoil Art Car Weekend from May 9th to May 11th. As always, the highlight of Art Car Weekend is The Art Car Parade. This year the parade is on Saturday, May 10th. | ||
Official Art Car Weekend | ||
The Official Art Car Weekend kicks-off with The Main Street Drag on Friday, May 9th during the day and The Art Car Symposium that evening. This year's event will also feature two new activities including a partnership with the Buffalo Bayou Anything that Floats Parade and a post parade Art Car Party. Both of these exciting new events will be after the parade on Saturday, May 10th. | ||
This is the Year for You! | ||
If you have ever considered being in the art car parade, As a new annual visual arts festival free from past constraints, it is a true "free for all" ... For participants, this means the opportunity for new ideas and creations. Be one of the 250 rolling entries by filling out an entry form and mailing it to The Orange Show by March 10, 2003. Download an entry form from The Orange Show web site. For spectators, "free for all" means anyone can now enjoy the parade and post pareade party with the artists who create the cars all free of charge. | ||

Last year's Artists Art Car Ball was such a huge success that the organizers have decided to do it again this year - with even more gusto! The Ball will be Thursday, May 8th. The Art Car Parade is not nor ever has been a juried event. This basically means that everyone who enters is accepted as long as they meet entry requirements. So, what's stopping you? You might even win a prize! The Orange Show Foundation and parade sponsors are offering cash prizes that total $9,800! Awards will go to:

Anything that Floats! | ||
For the first time ever, the Art Car Parade will be followed by the Anything That Floats Parade on Buffalo Bayou. Anything that Floats features anything from decorated rafts and canoes to shrink-wrapped balloon floats... like the name implies, anything goes! All crafts must be muscle-powered and float at least 400 feet from Eleanor Tinsley Park to the Buffalo Bayou Art Park. For more information on this parade, | ||
