A Car (inspected, registered and insured)

A Theme (infused with imagination)

A Plan (for design, execution and timetable)

Other stuff you will need:

1. Choose a theme and expand all its possibilities.
2. Begin to collect theme-appropriate stuff immediately. Enlist friends and family members to be on the lookout for amazing items that can add spice and flavor.
3. Choose a car or truck that has/will pass inspection. Be certain that you have the current and updated registration.
4. Sand your art car down with the sandpaper to prepare a good surface for painting and gluing and so things stick. While sanding, keep car surface wet. It is not necessary to sand paint off entirely.
5. Bondo is used to fill in dents in cars. It is also great for sculptural purposes, building it up to create more dimension than the vehicle's flat surface can provide. After applying Bondo, re-sand by hand (or with an electric sander) until smooth or you reach the desired textured base.
6. Paint. Follow directions specified on the paint can.
7. Apply any/all of your decorative embellishments. Silicone is the best adhesive, but be sure to wear protective gloves and a mask. You can buy silicone cheaply in bulk.
8. Completely cover the entire finished surface with varnish. This will help keep your design from fading.
9. People who really know how to weld safely can weld neat stuff onto their cars. All others - don't bother.
